הצבע משמש כשכבת בסיס המבודדת את העץ מחומר הגמר ומשפרת באופן ניכר את מניעת יציאת שרפי העץ/טאנין מהעץ אל פני השטח. בפעולה זו צבע היסוד מונע דהייה וקילוף של צבע הגמר וכן את הצהבת איזורי העיינים של העץ.

על צבע הבסיס מומלץ לצבוע בצבע אטום PIGMENTA של WOODSOL כמערכת כוללת.
